I joined the University of Alaska eCampus’s Design Team in February, 2016. I’ve developed and led faculty development and course design programs, collaborated with instructors on innovative projects, partnered with academic units across the university, and facilitated community-university partnerships.
Course Design Series
I developed the curriculum, designed the materials, and now manage a small team of designers who facilitate the EPIC program. 37 instructors from 22 disciplines have created innovative online courses through EPIC.
Intensive Workshop
I planned and led a 3-day intensive "iTeach" workshop on pedagogy, technology, and online learning. In addition to emceeing and presenting at the event, I managed catering, budgets, and collaboration with other campus units.
Digital Storytelling
I designed and taught ED-677: Digital Storytelling, a fully online course for students in the Online Innovation and Design Master's program at UAF. I built our course website on Wordpress and managed regular collaboration using Slack.
Teaching Tips
Teaching Tips are a weekly publication offering pedagogy and tool advice to UAF faculty. My Teaching Tips range from "Collaborative Annotation Tools" to "Reflecting on Your Teaching."
Immersive Design
Collaborated with a faculty member in English to create an immersive course experience for online students. By annotating 360 images, we invited students to access all course materials through their "cabin the the woods."
OER Podcast
As part of the international ID2ID program offered by Penn State, I worked with a partner at Rutgers University to create a podcast, "Open Conversations" on open education resources and practices.
Community Partner
In addition to designing the logo and website for Alaska's LION Network, I co-hosted 2 three-day think tanks bringing together faculty, community leaders, incarcerated students and policymakers to improve carceral education across the state.
Collaboration
I co-founded a community writing workshop, Infinite Writers, that meets weekly inside the correctional center and biweekly at the public library. With my co-founder and students, I recruited, trained, and co-teach the workshops with 10 local writers.
Student Fellows
I developed and managed a summer "Graduate Fellowship in Instructional Design" that invited UAF graduate students to identify a pedagogical problem and then work with eCampus's Design Team to develop tool and practice-based responses.
